I love capturing this fleeting time in your life, from during the birth through their first moments earth side. I am a Registered Nurse with previous experience primarily in the operating room. After having a child, I chose to become a stay at home mom. I really miss the healthcare environment and helping patients, but I wouldn’t give up being at home with my son. So I combined my two loves in a hobby, which is quickly turning into a business. I had to beg and plead with local photographers to photograph the birth of my son. I finally was able to get one to commit to capturing the event because I was a scheduled C-section and therefore the timing was very controlled. My son loves looking at the pictures of when he was born. It was then that I realized we were lacking this service within our community. Birth photography is very popular in the southern western states, but so are birth centers midwives and home births. Here is central IL I would say we are not as alternative when it comes to delivery methods. But as a Nurse I am very comfortable navigating the hospital and their procedures. Most people think to hire a photographer to capture their wedding day. That wedding day is a pivotal point for major change in a couple’s life. A birth of a child could be arguably an even bigger change in your life! Our society sometimes overlooks the importance of our birth experience and it’s impact on us as women and mothers. As Moms, we quickly have to shift into our new role as a parent that it can be difficult to process the delivery and faster than we can blink, the memories have blurred, faded and slipped away. No matter your birth experience, birth photography captures the story of your birth experience, beginning to end. Under the best of circumstances, birth photography brings that experience to life forever. I believe that birth is a transformative experience and under the most challenging of circumstances, birth photography helps woman to heal and find beauty in their birth experience. By hiring a birth photographer your partner does not have to view the event through a lens, but rather is able to participate in all aspects as much as possible. Capturing those moments of excitement, anticipation, preparation, hope, strength, determination, concern, transition, support, awe, joy, love and bliss is my job! I love my job!
I’ve worked with many doctors, nurses and hospitals in the central Illinois region. Given the situation, I am always open to traveling if needed.
